Maiden Coronado Is Coming to the Ferry Landing: What It Means for Coronado Real Estate

After more than 17 years of delays, revisions, and plans that never made it out of the drawer, a waterfront restaurant is finally rising at Coronado's Ferry Landing. It is called Maiden, it carries a $10 million price tag, and it opens in early 2027.

Maiden Brings a $10M Waterfront Restaurant to the Coronado Ferry Landing

Maiden Coronado is being developed by Social Syndicate, a San Diego hospitality group with a track record of turning waterfront space into places people actually linger. Ferry Landing Associates, the property owner, is funding roughly $6.4 million of the building shell. Social Syndicate is putting in another $3 million to $4 million for the interior and the outdoor dining areas.

The building will run close to 12,000 square feet. About 4,300 of that is a wraparound patio built to sit right on the bay, with sightlines across the water to the downtown San Diego skyline and the San Diego-Coronado Bridge. That patio is the whole point. It is the piece the Ferry Landing has been missing.

The menu blends Southern California and Hawaiian influences with a heavy lean toward seafood, plus lighter plates, family-friendly options, and a tropical-leaning cocktail program. Groundbreaking happened in December 2025. Construction is visible from the beach today.

What the Ferry Landing Revival Means for Life in Coronado, CA

The Ferry Landing has always had the view. What it has lacked is a reason to stay past sunset. Coronado, CA residents know the pattern: you walk the path, you take the photo, you leave. A $10 million anchor restaurant changes that math, and it changes it for the surrounding retail too.

Buyers who ask about Coronado, CA are usually asking about walkability without the noise. The Ferry Landing corridor delivers exactly that, and it is about to get significantly more interesting. Homes and condos within walking distance of the Landing sit in a pocket that is quietly getting an upgrade it did not have to pay for.

What This Means If You Are Buying or Selling in Coronado

Amenity announcements tend to move prices before the doors ever open. If you are selling near the Ferry Landing in the next 18 months, this is a talking point that belongs in your marketing. If you are buying, the window between announcement and opening is usually the more reasonable one.
